On May 26th, 2017 the City of Boise opened up the first of the city’s four long-anticipated fire stations. Located at 3575 W. Overland Road Fire Station #8 serves the Boise Bench neighborhoods, and is home base for the “Crazy Eights” crew. The three-bay, two-story facility provides the necessary amenities as well as a daylit gym, private bunks, public plaza complete with art installations and of course, the traditional fire pole. The ribbon cutting ceremony was kicked off with speeches from City of Boise Mayor, Dave Bieter, and the Stations Committee Members. Afterwards the station was open for tours that led to a complimentary lunch with crew members over burgers. The modern design features two-tone masonry, steel accents, storefront windows, and three prominent truck bays. Attention to detail coupled with integrating the building into local context are what help to make Fire Station #8 a successful project.
